In recent years the number of teams had been decreasing following several local teams folding, thankfully the current PSMFL can boast competitive leagues and cups, good refereeing standards and great communication between league officials, refs and teams/players alike.
From a personal viewpoint it's great to see as I have been involved with local Sunday morning football for many years, back in 2003 I took over running the old EMAP side which was languishing in the bottom division at the time (Div 5), in my 6 year reign as player/manager I successfully guided them to 5 promotions into the Premier league and 3 cup finals, we narrowly lost the prestigious Northants County Cup on penalties at a local UCL stadium.
Nowadays I've retired from managing a team as my family are priority for my time, but I do still play for a side that includes 8 or 9 lads from my old EMAP FC side, we are currently 2nd in division 2 and enjoying the social aspect of playing football with friends.
The team is called the Boro Bar Ultras, here's our logo:
We play our home games at The Riverside, Sugar Way off Oundle Road and are then found at The Boro Bar pub post match for a pint whilst discussing the game, Sundays dont get much better than that!

The PSMFL is always in need of new teams, players, refs and/or committee members, anyone interested in knowing more should feel free to contact them or me at fcbauer@hotmail.co.uk and I'll happily pass your details on.
Look out for more on grass roots football in our local area soon!
